Check the cartridge system

  • On your printer control panel, press the * and # keys simultaneously.
  • Press 1> 2> 7. Using the navigation keys, choose the Reports option and press the OK button.
  • Now choose the vpp self test option and press OK.
  • Your printer will print the Quality diagnostic report.

Review the report

  • As previously mentioned, you can check the issues with your printer’s cartridge system using the Quality diagnostic report.
  • Now, take that report and check the color blocks of each cartridge.
  • If you find that all the color blocks are perfect, it signifies that an issue is there with the hardware components of your printer.
  • In case you find any missing or faded color blocks in the report, it indicates an issue with your printer’s cartridge system.

Fix the cartridge system 

  • Open the cartridge access door of your printer and take out all the ink cartridges.
  • Reinsert the cartridges into their slots and press each of them until they lock into their place.
  • If you find any damage to the ink cartridges, replace them immediately. It is always recommended to use original HP cartridges. So, in case you have installed any third-party ink cartridges on your printer, replace them with genuine HP cartridges.
  • Now, check whether your printer can copy the documents.

Power cycle your printer
