First-time scanner setup (Windows users) need to follow the preceding steps to scan. On the manufacturer’s website, go to HP Support-Software and Driver Downloads. Enter the printer model number and then click the Download option next to the full feature driver under Driver-Product Installation Software. Follow the guidelines to connect the printer. Choose the recommended install option that includes HP Scan. Now, place your document or photo on the scanner glass and then close the scanner lid.
If the printer has the scan button or a touchscreen with a scan menu, choose the computer name and a scan job type. Wait until the scans complete and then return to the computer. The folder where the scan is saved opens automatically. Select the file with Scan in the name to view it.
If the printer doesn’t have a scan button, continue the below steps to scan from the computer. Search the Windows for HP and then select your printer. Press Scan a Document or Photo to open the HP Scan software. Edit and preview the scan before saving it.
Click the box next to Show scan preview or Show Viewer after the scan for making additional edits to the scan before saving it. Tap Advanced Settings or More, click Destination, and then tap the Browse option. Tap OK or the Save icon as a shortcut.

For the Mac system, go to the manufacturer’s website, type the HP Envy 5660 model number, and follow the guidelines on-screen to install HP Easy Scan or HP Scan software. If you have installed the HP driver, you can download the HP Easy Scan app from the Apple App Store. Place the documents or photos to be scanned on the scanner glass and then close the scanner lid.
Tap the Scan button or icon on the printer control panel to scan. Choose your computer name and if prompted, choose a scan job type. Let the scan complete and then return to the computer. The saved scanner folder opens immediately. Select the file with Scan in its name to view the scan.
If your printer doesn’t have a scan button or you need more HP Envy 5660 Scanning Software features, do the following steps to scan from the computer with HP Easy Scan. On your Mac search bar, search for a scan and then select HP Easy Scan from the list of results. Click on your printer’s name from the Scanner drop-down menu.
Choose a scan job type from the Presets menu and then click Scan. Select the thumbnail of the scanned item from the left panel and then click Edit to adjust colors or crop the size. Click the Send option in the bottom-right corner of the window and then click the folder. Edit your file name in the Prefix field, click the Where option and choose a folder, and then click the Save option.
