How to Print on your HP Printer from an Android Phone?

  • To print from an Android device, first of all, ensure that your Android device OS version is 4.4 (KitKat) or later. Earlier devices may not support the Plugin to print from it. Make sure that your Android device is active and connected to a fast and active internet connection.
  • Open the Google Play store application on your device. Search for the HP Print Service Plugin app. When you find the app from the search result, tap the app and touch the Install option to download the app and install it on your Android device.
  • If you are using an Android device of OS version 6.0 (Marshmallow) or any earlier devices, tap Settings and then search and open the HP Print Service Plugin app.
  • If you have Android 7.0 or any later version, the app launches automatically when the installation completes. When the app requests to grant permission, proceed with the Agree or Continue option.
  • If any other plugin services are currently active on your device, turn it off while using the HP Print Service Plugin app. Ensure that your HP printer is on active state.
  • Load ample paper to complete your print job, and check whether the ink cartridges are installed properly. If you want to print over an internet connection, connect your printer and computer to the same network connection.
  • If you do not have an active internet connection, press the Wi-Fi Direct button or icon on the printer operator panel. Note down the Network name and password of your printer. Find the printer network on your computer and connect to it.
  • After connecting to the internet network, open the File Manager app on your Android Device. Open the document or picture that you wish to print from your HP printer. Tap the Menu symbol and then press the Print option. Now the Print Preview appears on display. Press the Down arrow symbol to view the printer list.
  • Choose your printer name from the list (for example, HP [your printer model name]) if you connected over an internet network. If you linked your printer and computer through Wi-Fi Direct, choose your printer name with the term DIRECT. Edit any other print settings that you need to change and then tap the Print icon. Now your printer starts to print the item.
