- Search control on Windows, and then click Control Panel.
- Click View device and printers and select Add a printer.
- If the printer in the list, then click Next.
- If the printer isn’t in the list, choose to Add a local printer, and click Next.
- For a Wired connection, select Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname.
- Click Next, and follow the instruction on-screen.
- For a USB connection, click Use an existing port (USB001: Virtual printer port for USB)
- Click Next, and follow the on-screen instruction.

Add a Printer wizard on the computer is used to install the built-in print driver. The method of connecting the printer via Wired or Wireless is different. To install via a wired connection, install the built-in-printer over a network. Click Control Panel on the Windows computer.
Click View devices and printers, and select Add a printer. The Select a device or peripheral to add to this PC window displays, choose your printer and select Next. If the printer isn’t in the list, continue to the next step.
Click the peripheral that I want isn’t listed option on the bottom left of the window. Set Add a local printer or network printer with the Manual settings option and click Next. Choose the port to be used by your printer, like USB001 for a USB connected printer, and click Next.
Select Windows Update, and wait until the printer driver updates. Select HP, Hewlett-Packard, or Hewlett Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and click your printer name in the Printers pane. If your peripheral is not in the list, select it, click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions.
If the printer isn’t in the list, then double click the Back arrow to return to the Find a Printer by other option, and then go to the next step.
Click Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname.
Select Next and choose Autodetect from the Device type drop-down list.
Enter your printer’s IP address and then click Next. Wait for the computer to link to the printer, and click Install the printer driver. For a USB connection, select Use an existing port (USB001: Virtual printer port for USB), then click Next. Select Windows Update, and wait until the printer driver updates.
