  • The Chromecast HDMI Dongle, USB Type-A to USB Micro-B cable, Power supply cable, and HDMI short extension cable are included in the package.
  • Connect the Google Chromecast dongle to a USB port on your Mac computer.

Carry out the procedure given below to connect the Chromecast device to your Mac computer.

  • Make sure you have an active internet connection to set up and stream content on Chromecast.
  • Connect the Chromecast device and TV to your Wi-Fi network.
  • You can connect your Chromecast device to any USB port on your Mac or TV. You can also connect the Chromecast device to the USB adaptor which came with the Chromecast device.
  • Ensure to connect your Mac computer and Chromecast device to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • You will need a Chrome web browser to stream content on your Mac computer.
  • If you don’t have the Chrome web browser, download Chrome from your Safari browser on the Mac computer. Click the Download Chrome button on the official Google Chrome page.
  • Otherwise, go to Downloads to locate the downloaded file. Then, double-click on it to install the Chrome browser on your Mac computer.
  • Log in with your Google account credentials to download the Chromecast application for Mac.
  • Go to the official Google website and open the Chromecast setup page from your web browser.
  • Click the Download button on the Chromecast page to use the Chromecast.
  • Go to the Applications folder from your Mac computer.
  • Locate Chromecast and double-click to open it.
  • When prompted for confirmation to open the application, click Open.
  • In the Chromecast app window, click Accept after reading the Privacy and Terms (License agreement) carefully.
  • Wait till the application searches for your device.
  • You can add a Chromecast extension from the setup page of Google Chromecast. Click on the Add Cast Extension button and select Add Extension.
  • To add the Google Cast extension to your browser, click Add when prompted.
  • If your device is not detected, a pop-up window will be displayed on the screen via the Google Cast extension.
  • Click the ‘Device is missing’ link on the pop up to locate your Chromecast device.
  • Check whether you have connected the Chromecast device properly.
  • Verify whether you have an active internet connection, and the device is connected to the same wireless network as your Mac computer.
  • When your device is displayed in the Chromecast window, click on the Set Up button. 
  • When the Ready to Set up window appears, click Continue.
  • Make sure to choose the correct place of residence on the Google Chrome browser. 
  • After you have selected your country, click Continue.
  • Check whether you can view the same input on your Mac device and TV. If your code is correct, select “That’s my code.” If not, choose “My code is different.”
  • To connect the Chromecast device to the Wi-Fi network, choose your wireless network and enter the password of the network.
  • Enter the Chromecast device name according to your choice. Then, click Continue.
  • Once the Chromecast device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac computer, the Chromecast performs a software update to activate the device on your Mac computer.
  • You will receive a confirmation message on the screen after the software is downloaded.
  • Open your favorite streaming channel from the Chrome browser.
  • Click on the Cast icon near the address bar. 
  • Checkmark the Automatically send Cast extension usage statistics to Google. Click OK in the Help Improve Cast pop up.
  • Select the Chromecast device from the list.
  • You can also adjust the volume from the Cast icon. Click the Stop casting button to close the streaming content.
  • Click the Back to the device option and then select Options.
  • Now, you can select the quality of the streaming content according to your choice.
  • If you have a good internet connection, select the Extreme option to view high-quality videos.
  • Select the Auto option to adjust the casting quality according to your internet speed.
  • You can also view your content by simply searching the web.
  • Once you have set up and connected the Chromecast device with your Mac computer, you can easily mirror the contents on the Mac to your smart TV.
  • If you have a poor quality video, use a better internet connection with good speed to get quality content.
  • The Cast icon on your browser should be displayed in blue when it’s streaming. If the icon is not lighted and in gray color, it means the device is not connected to your Mac computer.
