Data Recovery For External Or Internal Hard Drive Failure

  • There are different types of hard disk failures. They are: logical failure, electrical failure, firmware failure, mechanical failure and complex failure mode.
  • The symptoms of logical failure are, damaged or corrupted files, or unable to access the system files.
  • The solutions of the issue are, to turn off the system properly and not using faulty software.
  • Data recovery is possible only if the issue is a logical failure. If the external hard drive is physically damaged, use a SATA cable.
  • The Hard drive failure may occur due to an operating system crash when trying to access the drive.
  • Due to unusual sounds from the drive, the driver may not be listed under My Computer option or in Disk Management.
  • Take the hard drive out of the CPU and connect it to the SATA port on the motherboard of the PC.
  • A faulty connection or power supply failure may be one of the reasons for the hardware failure issue.
  • Use the SATA cable that is better than the USB cable to handle bad sectors.

Desktop Monitor Not Working

  • Check if the monitor turned on. If the LED light is not stable, press the Power button to turn it on.
  • Make sure that the monitor’s data cable is properly connected to the system.
  • If there are no lights on the monitor, check if the wall socket is working properly.
  • Try to use a different cable to connect the monitor and the system.
  • Change the brightness and contrast of the display if the monitor’s settings menu is visible.
  • Unplug the monitor cable from the system and reconnect it to the system.
  • Delete the data in BIOS memory on the motherboard to restore it to its factory settings.
  • Deactivate the BIOS settings in the BIOS. Switch on the system by pressing the Power button.
  • Press F10 until the BIOS setup utility displays. Click the Power tab in the BIOS setup utility.
  • Click the Hardware Power Management-> SATA Power Management icons disables.
  • Press the F10 key to save the settings. Click the File tab and click Save Settings.
  • Check for loose connections. Disconnect the cables. Press the Power button and remove the power cable.
  • Remove the screw and panel on the system’s rear. Take the memory modules and video cards out of the slots. After a while, reseat them.

Desktop Keyboard Not Working

  • Non-functional keyboard issue may be due to loose connections. Ensure that the device is connected properly to the system.
  • Use a different USB port to connect the keyboard to the system. Turn off the system. Plug in the device into a proper port.
  • Reboot the system. If the issue persists, connect the device to another system. If the device operates, the defect may be with the port or keyboard.
  • Check if the driver is outdated. Update it if necessary. Uninstall and reinstall the driver. Unplug the keyboard from the system.
  • Press the Power button to turn off the system. Open the Device Manager. Click Start-> Search box-> Device Manager in the Programs list.
  • Select the Keyboard option. Right-click on its icon and select Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the software.
  • Reboot the device and reconnect it. Re-install it to resolve the computer problems and issues.

Mouse Not Working

  • An issue may occur between the recently installed hardware and the mouse.
  • If so, uninstall it and check if the mouse works properly with the system.
  • Unplug the mouse cable and reconnect it to a different USB port to verify if it is working.
  • Verify if the mouse cable is connected to keyboard PS/2 port. If so, unplug it.
  • Start the Windows in Safe mode. If the mouse is working in this mode, an issue may occur.
  • Open the Windows Device Manager. Select the + symbol to check the mouse option.
  • Delete the extra entries in the list by pressing the Delete option.
  • An outdated driver may be one of the reasons for the issue. Update the driver periodically.

Wireless Mouse Not Working

  • Do not keep any metal objects between the mouse and the computer.
  • Remove the wireless receiver and reinstall it.Reboot the system.
  • Check the wireless mouse settings for any changes in the hardware,.

Wireless Keyboard Not Working

  • Try to synchronize the device with the receiver.
  • Verify if the wireless receiver is installed properly into its slot.
  • Try to connect using a different port to resolve the computer problems and issue.

CPU Fan Repair

  • The system overheating issue can be resolved using a CPU fan.
  • A sudden shut down of the system without any warning may be the cause of the fan issue.
  • Verify if the fan is installed properly in the system. If not, uninstall and re-install it.
  • Accumulation of dust or debris on the fan can lead to fan malfunction. Clean it with a damp cloth.
  • Check the connection between the system and the fan. Replace the fan if it is not working.

How To Reduce Noise In CPU Fan

  • Find the noisy fan. Turn off the system by pressing the Power button.
  • Open the computer case by losings the screws at the back side of the panel.
  • Locate the noisy fan inside the CPU. Check the fan attached.
  • If the noise is from the main circuit board which use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust.
  • If the noise is from the graphics adapter fan, download and install the latest driver for the graphics hardware to resolve the issue.
  • If the noise is from the processor fan, download and update the BIOS to resolve the issue.
  • In case the noise is from the case fan, clean the dust in the case vents to resolve the overheating and to reduce noise.
  • Adjust the power settings in your Windows system. Turn off the system. Click Start-> Power plan.
  • Click the Choose a Power plan option. Wait till the window displays. Select the Power Saver option and close the window. Reboot the system.

RAM Memory Test

  • Open the Start menu on the Windows bar. Type mdsched.exe and click Enter.
  • Wait till a pop-up screen displaysto check the system memory.
  • Reboot the system and verify the memory. The other option, prompts to choose a time to check the RAM.
  • Choose the options as per your requirements. Wait till the system loads a screen that indicates the progress.
  • Use the memory diagnostic tool to examine if there is an error in the RAM.
  • There is software that runs the RAM test. Download and install it. After installing it, Run memtest.
  • If there is an issue with the system memory; replace it to resolve the RAM issue.

DVD Drive Not Working

  • An issue with the BIOS may result in the DVD drive not working.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds to turn off the system.
  • Turn on the device and press and hold the F10 button until the BIOS Utility screen displays.
  • Go to the Storage tab and click the Device configuration tab.
  • Check for a CD/DVD drive entry in the Device Configuration.
  • Press the Esc key to end the Device Configuration.

USB Port Repair

  • Rebooting the system is the primary step to resolve the USB port not working issue.
  • Try connecting the USB drive to a different USB port to examine if it works properly.
  • Use a different USB cable to verify if the issue is with the cable.
  • Verify the Device Manager on your Windows system. Select the Start option.
  • Click Run and type devmgmt.msc. Press OK to open Device Manager.
  • Choose the system name and click on the Scan for hardware changes option.
  • Wait till the scan process completes and examine if the USB device works properly.
  • Deactivate and activate the USB controller on the system.
  • Identify the USB controller in the Device Manager list. Right-click on it and click Uninstall.
  • Turn off the system and after a while, turn it on again. The system will automatically reinstall the USB controllers.
  • For a Mac system, reset the System Management controller option.
